• Sanguinarius's Vampiric Community Message Board, for discussion of real-life vampirism of all kinds, on Sanguinarius: The Vampire Support Page, one of the oldest sites in the online vampiric community, founded in summer 1997. Has been a central hub of the online vampiric community since early 1998.
• Nocturnal Visions Vampirism Discussion Board at Nocturnal Visions, founded late September 1998 but already very active. Run by Dark Mistress, who also runs Nonsequitur Realm and the private forum Nocturnal Underground, about which see my list of organizations. Before visiting the Nocturnal Visions Vampirism Discussion Board, please read its guidelines.
• Quicksilver ^V^ Messenger Service, on Quicksilver ^V^ Messenger Service Homepage. Information, personal sharing, mutual support, and poetry by vampires and their friends on a wide range of topics.
• SonjaBlue's Vampire, Psi and Occult Phenomena Discussion Board at SonjaBlue's La Page de L'Ange Noire.

2. Message boards for blood-drinkers:

• Bloody Minded: A Message Board for Blood Drinkers, on Sanguinarius: The Vampire Support Page. Nonerotic in focus, primarily for sanguinarians (blood-needers), but welcoming all kinds of blood-drinkers.

4. Miscellaneous forums founded in 1998:

• Ryv'rČ message board at Lolandrea's site Ryv'rČ, of which here is a mirror site. For discussion of real vampirism and related topics including vampire dreams, past-life memories, "the dark unconscious, and philosophy and mysticism related to such." Lolandrea is the founder of the Order of Ryv'rČ, about which see my spirituality page.
• Vampiriic Reveries Discussion Board at V^Morganna^V's Realm of the Damned
• The V.I.E.W. Message Boards, on AngelBitMe's Vampire Information & Education Website (V.I.E.W.). Played a major role in the development of the online vampiric community in early 1998, then went offline for a while, and is now back.
• Specialized message boards on Quicksilver ^V^ Messenger Service Homepage: ^V^ Hints and Tips, ^V^ Poet's Corner, ^V^ Picks & Pans, and ^V^ Suggestion Box. See Quicksilver ^V^ Messenger Service Index for descriptions.
• MB's owned by Sarrah/Sabrina/Aerisephira, a former member of the VRI/HoM crowd (see message boards category #5, below).

5. Forums on some older sites pre-dating the vampiric community mainstream:

• Sashas Real Vampires discussion snake pit at A Theory on Real Vampirism. Frequented by proportionately more real-vampires than any of the other message boards in this older-sites category. The message board itself is new (as of August 1998), although Sasha's site was founded in summer 1997. Sasha has participated on other vampire message boards since April 1997.
• The VRI Message Base, at the Vampirism Research Institute (VRI). Run by Liriel McMahon, a skeptic; but some online vampires hang out there too. All posts are archived, going back to March 1997.
• HoM discussion forum on Namadie Z. Talck's site Hall of Memories (HoM).
• Discussion board and Ad posting board, at Vampire Classifieds.
• Claudia's Dollhouse at The Raven's Nest. Seems to be dominated by roleplayers, but some influential members of the vampiric community have spent time here.
• Garden of Darkness message board at The Garden of Darkness
• The Resurrection Statements, at The Resurrection (Moonage Coven).

6. Message boards not focussed on vampirism, but owned by longtime members of the vampiric community:

• Lots o' Stuff Discussion Group at Wicked Kisses Anything Goes Page -- see guidelines. Wicked Kisses (Zilla) also owns Wicked Little Vampire Page and was very active on Sanguinarius's message board and IRC channel in winter 1997/98.

1. Before posting a message of your own, spend a few hours reading other posts to get a feel for what kind of discussion is expected on a particular message board. The different MB's vary in style and focus. Also, read other documents on the site which hosts the board. In addition, if you are unfamiliar with the topic of real-life vampirism, read the articles on these sites first. Curious newcomers are welcome on most boards, but please don't post totally ignorant questions or comments.

2. Except on the Ad Posting Board at Vampire Classifieds, do not post personal ads of any kind on the message boards, which are intended for discussion, not ads. Personal ads are welcome at the following sites, among others: Click here for a listing of vampire personal ad sites.

3. It is especially not a good idea to post requests to be "turned" or "embraced." That is a good way to make yourself very unpopular very fast with the online vampire crowd. Click here for some explanations of why.

4. "(nmb)" means "no message body," i.e. the message consists of only a title line. Recommended practice for one-line messages.

5. In the event that several different message boards are all down at the same time, that's because most of them are on either disc.server.com or InsideTheWeb. It does not mean that the message boards no longer exist.
